On Mintoo this March: Bridging the gender gap with Filipinas NFT

International Women’s Month gets a special highlight in the digital collectible space this March 29, 2023 with the launch of the Walang Katulad collection by Filipinas NFT, a women-led art initiative.

The collection, whose goal is to champion the use of the Web 3.0 space for women, will launch exclusively on Mintoo, accessible via PDAX Android and Huawei mobile app or web.pdax.ph.

One of Mintoo’s first collections made available for sale to the public, Walang Katulad features the works of ten women artists namely Aya Abad, Agatha Art, Mariel Cruz, Marie Dumadara, Jadie Lara, Julianne Ng, Meemoo, Taiga, Xiao, and Evie Yokai.

According to Khat De Guzman, one of the founders of Filipinas NFT, Walang Katulad is ‘a groundbreaking women-led NFT art collection that celebrates female creativity and [...] their unique identities and stories.’

She added that each piece in the collection highlights ‘women beyond boundaries’ and is a reminder of the importance of  the representation of the diverse beauty and strength of women in the digital art world.

Furthermore, 10% of the sales of Walang Katulad will be donated to I Support The Girls MNL, an non-government organization whose initiative is to provide feminine wear and hygiene necessities to Filipino women in need.

Here’s a brief introduction to each special Filipina whose works are featured in the collection:

Aya Abad is a full-time visual artist from Cavite with a degree in Fine Arts from Far Eastern University in 2014. Her works focus on monochromatic depictions of typical scenes often feature multiple perspectives of cats in human roles and contexts.

Agatha Art is a 22-year-old freelance artist and architecture student. Her style highlights women and their delicate anatomy, which can be seen prominently in her own illustrated card collection–The Archetype Playing Cards.

Mariel Cruz studied Multimedia Arts at Mapua University and works with a variety of media including acrylic works as paintings, murals, digital and textile works. Her style reflects positivity and often features phrases and doodles of cats.

Marie Dumadara is a Web3 artist residing in California. Aside from her artistic pursuits, she enjoys playing basketball, making music, and going on hikes. She also has a keen interest in e-commerce and digital marketing.

Jadie Lara is a 22-year old graduate of Multimedia Arts and has been passionate about art her whole life. She plans to explore an art career in Web3.

Julianne Ng is a Fine Arts graduate of the University of the Phililppines Diliman and was a semi-finalist in the Metrobank Art and Design Excellence (MADE) competition in 2018. In 2019 she had her first solo exhibition “Found Rejects” at Pablo Fort in Bonifacio Global City. She recently completed her first residency at Linangan Art Residency.

Meemoo is Lyka Orfano, a 28-year old, Bulacan-based artist who also has a foot in the NFT scene. Her first NFT project, Meemoo World, is a 1/1 PFP (profile picture) collection of a humanoid cat. She plans to explore and introduce more of her art onto the Web3 space.

Taiga is a 22 year old self-taught digital artist from Santa Cruz, Laguna who works on portraits, character design and concept art employing a style of mixed anime and realism. The worlds depicted in her works were heavily influenced by video games, science-fiction and fantasy.

Xiao is a traditional and digital artist who besides being a Web3 artist also dabbles in a little of everything from illustrations to fashion art.

Evie Yokai a self-taught digital illustrator and a third year Architecture Student at Mapua University. She was the head artist for The Project Yokai and the Tanod Republic, and is planning to grow as an artist in the Web3 space.

Digital collectibles in Mintoo can be conveniently purchased with PDAX’s internal utility token, PHPT. You can top off your PHPT by cashing in and converting your PHP to PHPT.  For detailed instructions on how to convert your PHP to PHPT you may visit this link. 

1. Make sure you have enough PHPT balance in your PDAX account. 
2. Tap on “Collectibles” from the home screen. You will then be redirected to Mintoo. 
3. View the collections available. Select which collectible you wish to purchase and tap “Buy”. 
4. Review your PHPT balance and the price details and tap “Next”.
5. Tap “Buy” to confirm your purchase order. 
6. You can tap “Go to Transaction History” to view the status of your order. 
7. Once your order is successful, you can now view your collectible in your Mintoo account.
